Bonfire “We Do Listings” Poster
Client: Bonfire
Project: Listings Flyer & Poster
Bonfire is an online marketing agency that worked with small and medium-sized businesses by developing simple, turn-key website solutions that would then be published to over a hundred different listing websites, both locally and nationally, to help get them found by potential customers searching for their services online.
The Problem: The team was having was in describing their services, specifically the listing services, to new clients. The number of publishing websites was proving difficult to communicate (i.e. information overload) and they wanted to develop a visual that they could provide potential customers to quickly communicate the number of various listing sites they would be working with.
The Solution: A large-format poster which showcased the logos of all of the listing sites that was printed and included in the on-boarding welcome kit that all new clients received. This piece was so effective that they included smaller versions of this in presentations and even printed as an in-house collateral piece hung in the lobby.
ATX Identity
Client: ATX
ATX is a physical therapy company run created by Elizabeth Logue, a long-time physical therapist who believed in incorporating various elements of yoga, meditation, prayer, and focused breathing into her physical therapy practice. Her goal was to create a program that provided a low-impact, highly-focused routine to stimulate blood flow and increase range of motion.
The Problem: Elizabeth and the ATX team needed an identity for ATX but didn’t know where to begin. She communicated that it was important to her to have a modern feeling logo (no serifed “old” fonts), that the logo conveyed movement and energy, and that purple and yellow were the colors she’d like to use.
The Solution: After some initial conversations and mood boarding with Elizabeth and a few rounds of iterations, I settled on a minimal typeface and a stylized “X” that moved the viewer forward and had an upwards hilt which was reached after determining that ATX was not only meant to rehabilitate but to lift ones-self up through positivity.
Vogue Salon Wall Graphic
Client: Vogue Salon
Vogue Salon is a high-end hair salon with 2 locations in Orange County specializing in men’s and women’s hair, as well as make-up and various spa services. They pride themselves on the training and continued education all of their stylists go through on a regular basis to ensure that they are on the cutting (pun most definitely intended) edge of the fashion trends.
The Problem: The Vogue Salon team were getting set to open their second location in Laguna Beach and they were in need of a graphic solution on their 4 panel glass frontage. The entrance was a bit obscured and at an awkward size, but with all that frontage they wanted to really make something stand out.
The Solution: The Vogue Salon team were great to work with and they loved the less is more approach to their store front. The image is one that was used throughout their brand from printed collateral to their social pages and they’ve received numerous comments about how striking the image is. Additionally, the panels stack from right to left which leave the last panel on top, appropriately displaying store information when they are open for business. This piece won a platinum level Hermes award for design and remains one of my favorite projects to have worked with them on.
Shiny Squirrel Identity
Client: Shiny Squirrel
Project: Brand Identity
Shiny Squirrel is a full-service marketing company located in Newport Beach, CA that works with small and medium-sized businesses to provide affordable marketing solutions ranging from print/web design to social media strategy.
The Problem: The name “Shiny Squirrel” started as an internal joke after seeing a squirrel wearing a suit of armor, so the SSQ team wanted it to have that same personality. Overall guidance favored modern type with vintage appeal, but they wanted their identity to be scalable on all formats as well as a developed icon set beyond just the logomark.
The Solution: After several rounds of ideation through moodboards, sketches, and font choices, I was able to provide the team with a versatile and memorable identity that included the logo-mark as well as two icons that played towards the name (the golden squirrel and the acorn) that could be used as favicons, social media avatars, and design elements.
